CCFP Helps Reduce Delays

Weather accounts for approximately 75 percent of all ATC delays with convective weather accounting for approximately 80 percent of those delays. The Collaborative Convective Forecast Product (CCFP) reduces disruption by collaboratively producing more accurate forecasts of location and intensity of convective activity in support of collaborative Traffic Flow Management (TFM) decision-making. It is expected that better planning will result if all the planners are utilizing the same convective forecast product rather than several different ones that often do not agree. Over 60% of participants responding to a survey valued collaboration in convective forecasting.
